Pop a wheelie: police arrest showboating motorcyclist

Devin Tyler

Police in Vidor arrested an Orange resident for multiple outstanding warrants after the motorcyclist's showboating warranted a traffic stop July 13, reports Officer Lee Brading of the Vidor Police Department.

According to Brading, he was patrolling near the 1200 block of North Main Street in Vidor when he observed a black 2007 Suzuki motorcycle stopped at a traffic signal accelerate at a high rate of speed when the light changed to green. He then allegedly saw the motorcyclist "pop a wheelie" and ride that way for approximately 75 feet. The officer then initiated a traffic stop.

The man on the motorcycle identified himself as Devin Chase Tyler, 25, with a Louisiana identification card, but gave the officer an Orange address. Tyler had no motorcycle operator's license, nor did he have insurance on the motorcycle, reports Brading. Brading ran Tyler's ID and discovered he had four outstanding warrants for his arrest out of Bridge City and two Capias warrants for failing to appear in court. Brading arrested Tyler for the warrants and took him to the Orange County Jail. The motorcycle was towed.
