Port Arthur Fire Department responds to multiple structure fires
On Wednesday, May 30, the Port Arthur Fire Department responded to three structure fires within two hours.
The first fire was reported at 800 12th Ave., at 1:23 a.m. On arrival, engine crews found a small fire inside the structure and quickly extinguished it.
The second fire came at 1:56 a.m., at 1000 Pecos Ave. The first engine on scene reported heavy fire through the roof of a vacant house. There were exposures on both side of the structure. Both houses, one occupied and one under renovation, sustained damage. Four engine companies and one ladder company were able to extinguish the fire after two hours.
While at Pecos, fire crews noticed heavy fire coming from a vacant apartment two blocks away. PAFD responded with one ladder company and five engine companies. Both stories were fully involved in fire. One engine company and the ladder company are still on scene extinguishing hot spots.
While no injuries were reported, all three fires were suspicious in nature. Anybody having information on any of the fires is asked to call the PAFD Arson Division at 983-8737.
