Port Arthur man drowns trying to save children
A 43-year-old Port Arthur man died Thursday after he drowned in Canyon Lake trying to save two children, according to the Comal County Sheriff's Office.
Terry Hasan and his family was staying at the Jacobs Creek Park and was on the shore with other members of his party when he saw two children on a inflatable device floating away from the shore. Hasan ran after them, jumped on another inflatable device, however that device gave out after 20-30 yards according to witnesses, Hasan tried swimming, but soon went under.
His body was recovered and the children were picked up by another boating group. Hasan was pronounced dead at 9:30 pm Thursday night. Funeral services are pending.
