Possible hit and run in Beaumont injures one

Police in Beaumont are still trying to determine whether a man discovered injured at the intersection of Delaware Street and 19th Street in Beaumont on Feb. 16 was assaulted or struck by a vehicle, the Beaumont Police Department reports.

BPD is looking for information regarding the incident. According to a news release, officers responded to a report that the 32-year-old Beaumont man had possibly been struck by a car at about 11:50 p.m. They arrived to find the victim lying in the roadway with head injuries. EMS personnel at the scene advised the man was in critical condition. Based on the information at-hand, the BPD Traffic Investigations Unit was called. The subject was transported to St. Elizabeth ER where he was still receiving treatment for his injuries and had been stabilized at the time of the release.

Officers reportedly canvassed the neighborhood, but received "very little information." The victim was not able to communicate with investigators at the time of the release, and it is unknown if he was struck by a vehicle or assaulted, BPD reports.
