Robbery of iPhone leads to 4 arrests, recovery of stolen guns
Thursday, June 13, 2013, at 1:08 a.m., Beaumont police officers were dispatched to Royal Stop convenience store at 8350 Gladys Ave. in reference to an aggravated robbery.
Officers arrived at the store on Gladys Avenue at N. Major Drive and spoke to a juvenile male who told them he had been robbed at gunpoint by two men. He said he was on the phone and they approached him from behind, one of them armed with a black handgun, and they demanded everything he had. The juvenile told them all he had was his iPhone 4. The suspects took his phone and drove off in what was described as a 1990s tan-colored Buick.
Officers quickly located the vehicle at 3980 N. Major. The four people inside were taken out of the car and a search conducted; officers found three handguns and several iPhones, including the victim's. Two of the handguns had also been reported stolen.
All four men were placed under arrest on charges of theft of firearms and aggravated robbery.
