Second arrest for Orange resident within one month
An Orange resident apparently napping in a car was arrested for marijuana possession for the second time this month, police report.
According to a police report from OPD, at approximately 1:47 a.m. on Wednesday, March 26, officers patrolling the area near the James Zay Apartment in the 600 block of Burton Street observed a man slumped over behind the wheel of a Lincoln Towncar parked in a space at the complex. Officers reportedly approached the subject. When the man rolled down his window, OPD Officer Caleb Davis reported he could smell the odor of burnt marijuana inside the vehicle. The man, later identified as 45-year-old Isbay Lewis III of Orange. When he exited the vehicle and as asked if he had anything illegal, he reportedly told police, "No, I already smoked the marijuana." In spite of the man's assertion, officers allegedly found a bag of a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana. Lewis was arrested for possession of marijuana and transported to the Orange County Jail.
The recent arrest is Lewis' second this month for marijuana possession. According to reports from OPD, Lewis was arrested March 8 after a similar incident. Officers reportedly saw Lewis inside his parked at car at the same complex on that date. OPD Officer Stephen Ward reported observing a bag of what appeared to be marijuana "in plain view" inside the vehicle. Lewis was arrested and taken to the Orange County Jail.
