Separate fires battled by Bmt Fire/Rescue believed to be deliberately set

On Sunday, September 27, 2015, in the wee hours of the morning, Beaumont firefighters were dispatched to two separate fires that may have been related.

At 3:41 a.m., the Beaumont Fire Department received a report of a building on fire at 410 Winfield. While at this location, fire dispatchers received a 911 call reporting another fire at 1208 Gilbert. Other units were dispatched to this location and were able to bring the flames under control within a few minutes.

One firefighter sustained minor injuries while fighting the fire on Gilbert, and was transported to St. Elizabeth hospital. He is expected to be released.

According to a press release, while both buildings were vacant, an investigation determined they were deliberately set. Anyone who may have information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (409)833-TIPS or Beaumont Fire/Rescue CRR Division at (409)880-3905.
