A rollover accident occurred Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 22, on Highway 105, in between 2802 and the Orange/Jasper county line, about 100 yards from the scene of an earlier vehicle fire caused by a mechanical fault less than an hour before.

Orange County Deputy Scott Jacks confirmed that there were five children and two adults in the overturned SUV that rolled on the highway shoulder.

The preliminary crash investigation indicates the vehicle swerved to avoid striking another vehicle that was turning left.

According to a witness statement, at least one of the vehicle’s occupants was ejected from the rolling SUV.

Multiple injuries were reported but no fatalities. The adult male passenger was airlifted from the scene, and others were transported by ambulance to St. Elizabeth in Beaumont. Their injuries are reportedly not life-threatening.

First on the scene were two men who were sitting beside their vehicle that had caught fire earlier.  Emergency services had already responded and left the scene of the fire before the wreck occurred.
