Sheriff's office raising funds for employees recovering from tragedy

Deputies of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office (JCSO) are holding a link and sandwich sale July 30 and July 31 to raise funds for corrections officers who have suffered multiple tragic circumstances and need some assistance.

Corrections Officer Demitria Juarez had just gotten back into her home after Hurrican Harvey when her 5-year-old sone was struck by a car. While at the hospital with him for several weeks, her home caught fire.

Corrections Officer April Scypion suffered a house fire and major wreck.

Their coworkers want to help both officers through the tragedies, reports JCSO Capt. Crystal Holmes.

According to Holmes, volunteers will be selling Zummo's links and pork chop sandwiches with chips and cold drinks on two days at two locations. On July 30, the sale will be held at the Jefferson County Sheriff's Downtown Office at 1001 Pearl St. in Beaumont. On July 31, the sale will be held at the Jefferson County Corrections Facility located at 5030 U.S. 69 Access Road.

Links with chips and drink will be sold for $6.00. Pork chop sandwiches with chips and a drink are $7.00. Diners can also get both a link and sandwich with chips and a drink for $10.00. Fax orders of 10 or more to (409) 726-2554, and delivery is available. Orders must be in by 4 p.m. on July 27.
