Shooting and kidnapping: Beaumont police investigate violent incident

Police investigating a shooting Aug. 19 discovered there had been two victims, one who had been shot and another who had been kidnapped but later escaped the alleged gunmen’s grasp, reports Sgt. Cody Guedry of the Beaumont Police Department.

Officers responded to the 2400 block of Primrose in Beaumont just after 2 p.m. on Sunday in reference to the gunshot victim and discovered a single victim suffering from a gunshot wound to his lower abdomen. The man was transported by Beaumont EMS to a local emergency room where he was treated for injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening.

While at the scene, detectives discovered that the suspects had actually kidnapped another victim from the residence. The male victim was later able to get away and phone police.

Investigators are currently interviewing witnesses and other parties involved in the incident. Patrol officers were able to locate a vehicle that was possibly involved and detained two suspects, who will also be interviewed, according to Guedry.

Police ask that anyone with information in reference to this crime contact Crime Stoppers of Southeast Texas at (409) 833-TIPS (8477).
