Shooting injures Beaumont woman

Beaumont Police officers responded to a report of a shooting the evening of Feb. 5 that left a local resident with a wound to her thigh.

According to a news release from the Beaumont Police Department, dispatch received the call reporting the shooting in the 2700 block of Franklin Street at 5:42 p.m. Witnesses reportedly told officers one of two men who were involved in a physical altercation at the residence pulled out a gun during the melee and began shooting toward the home. The other party's mother was inside the residence and was struck with a stray bullet in her thigh, BPD reports. She was transported to St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Beaumont with non-life threatening injuries.

Police continue to interview witnesses, and the investigation remains open.
