Shooting at Tiger Mart in Port Arthur

On Sept. 16, officers from the Port Arthur Police Department responded to a call at the Tiger Mart in reference to a subject with a gunshot wound to the abdomen, according to a press release. 


Officers found a gunshot victim in the parking lot of the business before entering the store and locating a suspect. The suspect was then taken into custody for aggravated assault

with a deadly weapon.


The victim was taken to an area hospital, where he is listed in serious, but stable condition.

The suspect was identified as 22-year-old Demonte Thomas. He was transported to the Jefferson County Jail for booking.


This incident is currently under investigation by the Criminal Investigations Division of

the Port Arthur Police Department.
