Slashed: Port Arthur police investigate violent altercation between common law couple

Police in Port Arthur are investigating a violent altercation during which a woman reportedly slashed her common law husband across the face with a knife, reports the Port Arthur Police Department (PAPD) Sgt. Shawn Perron.

According to Perron, officers responded to the 500 block of 10th Street in Port Arthur in reference to a stabbing just after 10 p.m., Nov. 16. The preliminary investigation revealed that a verbal argument between a common law couple escalated and became physically violent. During the altercation, the wife allegedly slashed her husband's cheek. He was transported to St. Mary's Hospital for treatment. His injuries are not life-threatening, reports Perron. 

Officers are still investigating, and no arrests have been made.
