Students overdose on medication at Vidor Junior High School

Several Vidor Junior High School (VJHS) students were sent to an area hospital for treatment after overdosing on medication March 9, reports Vidor ISD.

A statement from the school disctrict indicates that "eighth grade female students brought an over-the-counter cold medication to school, which they shared with other female students." Ambulances responded to VJHS when students went to the nurse vomiting, and parents were contacted. A total of seven students were transported to the hospital for treatment.

The disctrict stated that the matter was handled according to appropriate school guidelines. "Vidor ISD will further investigate the situation to ensure the continued safety of our students," according to the distrcit's statement.
