UPDATE: Lake Charles Police learned that after the shooting, the suspect he fled the scene on foot with his cousin, Kevion Willis. Detectives learned that while attempting to escape, Kevion Willis approached a motorist and tried to take their vehicle by force.

Detectives prepared an arrest warrant for Kevion Willis on the charge of Attempted Carjacking. Judge Michael Canaday signed the warrant and set bond at $150,000.00.

On Friday, May 26, 2017, Kevion Willis, 20, of Lake Charles, was arrested on the warrant and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center.

On Wednesday, May 24, at about 7:38 a.m., Lake Charles Police Department officers responded to the 1500 block of Fournet Street in reference to a shooting, Lt. R. Harrell said in a release.

Once officers arrived, they located a black male victim, identified as Robert Bracy, 27 years of age, deceased with apparent gunshot wounds. DDuring the investigation, Detectives learned that the victim was in an argument with a black male subject, identified as Devlon Willis-Muhammad. Willis-Muhammad produced a handgun and fired toward Bracy striking him multiple times.

The suspect, Devlon Willis-Muhammad, 20, of Lake Charles, was arrested and will be booked into Calcasieu Correctional Center for second degree murder.

The responding officer was Corporal Shannon Veillon and the lead detective is Dustin Gaudet.
