Suspect caught on tape in Orange burglary
Police in Orange are still searching for a suspect in a burglary Saturday, even though the perpetrator was caught on tape by the victim's neighbor.
According to a report from the Orange Police Department, police were dispatched to the 1300 block of Pine Ave. in Orange at approximately 9:53 p.m. Upon arrival at the residence, Officer Corey Foreman met with the victim. According to the man, several items including his son's Xbox 360, about 40 video games worth an estimated $250 total and a 32-inch flat screen television had been taken from his home while he was away. The victim said he realized his home had been burglarized when he received a call from a concerned neighbor. A second neighbor then informed the victim he captured video of the burglary suspect leaving the residence using his iPad. The man was described as a heavy-set, black male, who was wearing a white t-shirt and blue jeans at the time of the burglary. According to the report, the neighbor who took the recording also said the suspect was parked in the back alley on the north side of the victim's house in a late 80’s-early 90’s model Oldsmobile Cutlass.
Officer Foreman reported only a partial fingerprint was lifted at the scene, but police have custody of the video. The investigation is ongoing.
