Suspect evades arrest, is taken into custody

On Friday, October 30, 2015, at approximately 9:12 p.m., Beaumont police officers attempted to stop a Chevy Impala after observing the driver throw several items from the vehicle while it was traveling in the 1400 block of Gulf Street. The driver of the vehicle refused to stop and continued evading into Orange County.

According to Sergeant James Guedry, deputies from Orange County were able to deploy spike strips at exit 870 and disable the vehicle. The driver was taken into custody and identified as Oliver Dancy, a 36-year-old white male from Beaumont. Dancy was arrested for evading arrest in a motor vehicle. It was discovered that Dancy had a felony warrant for his arrest.

"We would like to thank Orange County for its help in bringing this pursuit to a safe ending and help take this suspect into custody," said Guedry. There are no more details at this time.
