Suspect wanted in slaying of family's pony

The Liberty County Sheriff's Office is searching for the person who shot and killed a pet pony, the department said in a release.

A treasured family pony affectionately known as "Chicken Nugget" was shot and killed sometime during the night of Tuesday, Nov. 7 or the early morning hours of Wednesday, Nov. 8 on the family ranch on Private Road 2045 in Liberty County, LCS Capt. Ken DeFoor said.

The family's small pet was found dead in the pasture with a gunshot to the head at about 10:30 a.m. in the morning. The Liberty County Sheriff's Office said they are conducting the investigation and seeking information from anyone who may have any knowledge as to who may be responsible for the death of this small pony.

The Multi-County Crime Stoppers organization, consisting of Montgomery, Liberty and San Jacinto Counties, are offering a $1,000 reward for any information leading to the arrest of the person or persons responsible for the killing of this family pet.

The identity of any person calling in a tip will remain anonymous.
