SWAT and narcotics officers arrest three for drugs

Port Arthur Police Department (PAPD) SWAT and narcotics officers arrested three men on drug charges and seized two vehicles after reportedly discovering more than 12 pounds of synthetic marijuana and pretty packages apparently prepped for distribution.

Officers recovered about 12.8 pounds of synthetic marijuana along with other illicit narcotics while executing a search warrant in the 2100 block of Wignall on Nov. 9. They also seized a firearm and two vehicles at the scene. PAPD reports that investigators believe the occupants of the residence were preparing to package the synthetic marijuana into colorful containers that could appeal to younger buyers. Three men were taken into custody and charged with delivery of a controlled substance, a first-degree felony. Officers arrested Gabriel Wilson Taylor, 35; Christopher Dewayne Reed, 26; and Kenneth James Keller, 35. The suspects were transported to the Jefferson County Correctional Facility for booking. All three suspects made bond prior to this report.

“Narcotics investigators will present this case to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s office and will also brief the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency on these arrests,” PAPD stated in a news release following the drug bust.

PAPD was assisted by investigators from the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) and the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office narcotics unit.
