SWAT responds to call in Port Arthur
The Port Arthur Police Department SWAT team responded to a call regarding a mental patient with a firearm on March 3 at about 10:21 p.m. in the 3700 block of Woodland Avenue, according to a news release from PAPD.
Police report that they received a call regarding a subject with a possible mental condition with a gun, and when they arrived at the scene, family members told them the armed elderly man inside had a medical condition. Officers attempted to persuade the man to come outside, according to the release, but were unable to do so for some time. SWAT was called to assist and responded to the scene, also. A short time later, the man came out of the residence voluntarily, police report. He was taken to a local hospital for evaluation. No injuries were reported as a result of the incident.
