BEAUMONT, Texas --- The Symphony of Southeast Texas (SOST) Board of Directors announces the appointment of Douglas J. Fair as the new executive director. Fair joins the SOST from his current position as a development consultant with the Midcoast Symphony Orchestra in Maine.

“Mr. Fair brings with him a wealth of experience in the orchestra industry and especially in the area of fundraising,” said SOST Board President Virginia Bean. “We feel that he will be an asset to our city and our area, and will take the Symphony of Southeast Texas to the next level!”

Fair previously served as director of donor relations for the Salvation Army Northern New England Division, director of development for the Portland Symphony Orchestra in Portland, Maine and executive director for the MacPhail Center for the Arts in Minneapolis, Minn. and the Wilmington Music School in Wilmington, Del. He earned degrees in music education and trumpet performance at the Peabody Conservatory of Music in Baltimore, Md. and has completed additional courses in accounting and philanthropy since.

“It is a distinct privilege to join the Symphony of Southeast Texas,” said Fair. “Chelsea Tipton has shaped the orchestra into an exciting ensemble that is poised for growth in many ways. I look forward to supporting the musicians, staff, the board and Chelsea on an exciting adventure. I am eager to get to know our many audiences and discover new ones in the process of helping the SOST bring symphonic music to all of Southeast Texas.”
