Tekoa Academy students sent home early after threat is found
A crudely written message scrawled on the bathroom wall at Tekoa Academy drew a response from the Port Arthur Police Department, including evacuation of the school at 326 Thomas Blvd. in Port Arthur, but in the end it was just an early release for Tekoa students.
At 8:41 a.m. Friday, April 19, officers of the PAPD were dispatched to Tekoa. Upon arrival, they found a crude, handwritten message on the wall of the boy's restroom with no specific threat made against any identified person. The school was evacuated and the Port Arthur Fire Department used a bomb-detection canine throughout the entire complex, but the school was found to be safe.
There were no injuries, and students were released early. The case is being investigated by PAPD detectives.
