Third annual LGBTQIA Summit in Beaumont

The Tri-County Disproportionality and Disparities Committee, a group aimed at driving change and improving disparities for minorities in our community, is hosting Beaumont’s third annual LGBTQIA Summit, according to a release from the committee.

The summit will be held on Wednesday, April 12, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Event Center in downtown Beaumont, located at 700 Crockett Street.

The event is open to the public and free to attend. Guest speakers will present information on how to improve outcomes for our community members who identify as LGBTQIA.

Topics will include Gender and Sexuality 101, Safer Sex for the LGBTQIA Community, Criminal Justice, Advocacy, Culturally Competent Healthcare, Domestic Violence and more. Lunch will be provided, with drag performers providing entertainment during the lunch hour. Vendors, health related agencies and non-profit groups that support the LGBTQIA community will be present.

The goal of the summit is to improve public health by providing education, information and community health information that promote and encourage acceptance, understanding and improved outcomes for the LGBTQIA individuals living in Southeast Texas.
