Three teens injured in rollover
At approximately 8:30a.m., the Texas Department of Public Safety received a report of a rollover crash on South Pine Island Road near Brooks Road in Jefferson County, DPS Sgt. Stephanie Davis said in a release.
A Chevrolet passenger vehicle was traveling southbound on South Pine Island Road. The driver of the vehicle was traveling at an unsafe speed, hit a bump in the road and lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle flipped end-over-end several times before coming to rest.
The driver, 16-year-old Danyale Cormier, suffered minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital by private vehicle. The front passenger, a 15-year-old female, and the rear passenger, a 16-year-old female, both suffered serious injuries, with the rear passenger transported by ambulance to St. Elizabeth hospital with several broken bones.
The preliminary investigation indicates that the 15-year-old front passenger was not wearing a seat belt and was flown by medical helicopter to UTMB Galveston. Her injuries are serious.
All occupants of the vehicle were from Beaumont. Cormier was issued traffic citations for unsafe speed and violating a driver license restriction.
