Troopers apprehend fleeing felon

A convicted felon with two outstanding warrants failed to elude pursuing officers when fleeing from a traffic stop in Orange County March 28.

Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Stephanie Davis reports, Orange County Troopers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on an allegedly speeding Chevrolet SUV on Concord Road just south of Interstate 10 near Vidor at about 5:20 p.m. Monday evening. The driver of the vehicle did not stop but instead fled down several small roads leading back to FM 105. The driver continued to flee down 105, and crashed the vehicle into a pasture near Langham West Road. After crashing the SUV, the driver got out and fled on foot. Troopers quickly apprehended him without further incident, Davis stated in a news release.

The driver of the vehicle, Patrick Culbreath, 32, of Winnie, received minor injuries in the crash and was transported to an area hospital. There were no other vehicles involved in the crash and no other injuries were reported.

According to DPS, Culbreath currently has two outstanding felony warrants for his arrest and additional charges are pending as a result of this incident.

A search of a criminal database revealed Culbreath, also known as Little Pat, has previous convictions for felony theft, burglary, fraud, and possession of a controlled substance and has served time in TDCJ.
