Two arrested in Beaumont auto burglary

Police in Beaumont arrested two suspects reportedly fleeing from an auto burglary in progress Thursday, July 17, BPD reports.

According to a news release from BPD, officers responded to the Fountain Wood Apartments, 3565 Delaware St. in Beaumont, at 11:37 p.m. in reference to the burglary. The complainant reported that she observed a man police later identified as 22-year-old Donald Lane of Beaumont inside her vehicle. Police report another man, identified as 21-year-old Larry King Jr. of Beaumont, acted as lookout for Lane. 

The complainant told family members what was happening and called 911. Family members confronted Lane and King. Officers near the area responded and detained the two suspects.

The investigation revealed Lane and King were in a 2010 Silver Dodge Charger and parked near the office. They prowled vehicles in the rear parking lot and found the  complainant's vehicle was unlocked, police report. Lane allegedly removed property from the vehicle and had it in his pocket when he was confronted. 

Both suspects were arrested and booked on the charge Burglary of a Motor Vehicle.
