Two injured in shooting at Prince Hall Village Apartments

On Feb. 15 at 3:04 p.m., Port Arthur Police Dispatch received a 9-1-1 call in reference to a shooting victim at Prince Hall Village Apartments, 914 W.14th Street, City of Port Arthur spokesperson LaRisa Carpenter said in a release.

Upon arriving, on scene officers were informed at the scene that two subjects had been shot. Investigation revealed that both subjects were transported toa local hospital prior to officers' arrival. Their injuries are non life-threatening.

Witnesses at the scene stated that an altercation between two groups of individuals led to the shooting. A person of interest, later identified as Decarlos Valsin, was taken into custody at his residence for outstanding felony warrants and alleged aggravated assault.

He was subsequently transported to the Jefferson County Correctional Facility. The investigation is ongoing.
