On Feb. 5, Jefferson County Narcotics Investigators were conducting Surveillance on Houston Street near Usan in Beaumont when they attempted to stop a silver Chevy HHR, Capt. Crystal Holmes said in a release.

The vehicle fled from deputies to Walden Road and I-10. The HHR struck a green VW Beetle in the intersection and came to rest on Walden in front of the PETRO gas station.

Without regard for the wellbeing of the two ladies in the car, the two black male suspects then fled on foot. One of the suspects, later identified as 21 year old Kamryn Broussard of Beaumont, ran towards the fuel pumps where he attempted to enter into a Gold SUV driven by a female. When Deputies reached him and tried to take him into custody, he resisted. He was subdued and arrested. A deputy sustained an injury to his leg, and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

The second suspect, 24 year old Micah Hanna of Beaumont fled towards the east side of Petro truck stop. Surveillance video shows that as he rounded the corner, he threw a 9mm handgun into a trash bin. He fled towards the woods and doubled back through the truck stop. He was also caught and arrested.

Another 9mm handgun was located on the console between the front seats of the HHR along with a small scale. Although a heavy smell of marijuana was emanating from the HHR, no narcotics were found.

The two ladies in the green VW were taken to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries sustained in the wreck.

Both Hanna and Broussard were booked into the Jefferson County Jail for felon in possession of a firearm. Hanna was charged with evading detention in a motor vehicle causing serious bodily injury and Broussard was charged with evading arrest causing serious bodily injury.

"The lady in the gold SUV panicked and drove away before deputies could speak to her," Holmes said. "We ask that she call the JCSO at (409) 835-8411 and speak to a Narcotics Investigator."

"We would like to commend the employee’s at the Petro Truck Stop for the manner in which they handled the situation," Holmes added. "It was a Petro employee who found the gun in the trash bin and notified deputies."
