Two people suffer chemical exposure at International Paper's Orange Mill

Two of three employees involved in an incident at International Paper's Orange Mill on Dec. 29 were transported to a local medical center for treatment of chemical exposure, reports International Paper's Orange Mill Communications Coordinator Ashley Moore.

According to a news release from Moore, the incident occurred at approximately 1:40 p.m. The employees were exposed to chemicals used in the paper-making process, Moore explained. They were transported to the hospital with injuries that do not appear to be life-threatening.

"Our thoughts are with the employees and their families," Moore said in a statement. "An internal incident investigation is underway.

"The safety of employees and contractors is a core value and the top priority at our mill. We continue to focus on making sure all of our team members are working safely."
