A motorcycle accident in Orange County sent two people to the hospital with life-threatening injuries May 22, Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Stephanie Davis reported in a news release.

According to Davis, officers with the Vidor Police Department contacted Orange County DPS Troopers at approximately 6:25 p.m. Sunday to assist with a motorcycle crash on Interstate 10 at the FM 105 exit ramp in Orange County. Once on scene, the troopers became the lead investigators.

Investigating officers learned that the driver of a 2014 Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling westbound on Interstate 10 taking the FM 105 exit ramp when, for an unknown reason, he slammed on the brakes and lost control. The motorcycle crashed into the concrete sidewall, rolling over several times before coming to a rest.

The driver, 34-year-old Brannon Lee Wooden, and the passenger, 27-year-old Kadie Odom, both of Vidor, were transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont with serious injuries. Wooden is being treated for serious injuries, and Odom is listed in critical condition at St. Elizabeth. Troopers reported that both were wearing helmets at the time of the crash.

The FM 105 exit ramp and two lanes of the access road were closed for more than an hour to clear the accident, but have since reopened.

The crash investigation is ongoing.
