TxDOT uses impaired dodgeball to teach young drivers don't drink and drive

60 percent of total alcohol-related traffic fatalities in Texas in 2016 involved young drivers between 17 and 34 years of age, TxDOT said in a release.

During spring break 2016, there were 458 crashes in Texas involving young drivers under the influence of alcohol. Those crashes led to 15 fatalities and 33 serious injuries

With the spring festival season in full swing, TxDOT is reaching out to young drivers to "Plan While You Can" for a sober ride, through an innovative, engaging grassroots event. This effort aims to decrease senseless, preventable crashes and save lives.

TxDOT is planning an interactive impaired dodgeball experience at the South Texas State Fair at Ford Park Thursday, March 30 at Ford Park from 5:30 p.m. to 11 p.m., inside the Kid Zone near the entertainment complex.
