UPDATE: Orange police make arrest in shooting incident

Police in Orange have arrested a suspect in the March 8 shooting of 24-year-old Centarius Chavis, reports the Orange Police Department.

According to a news release from OPD, police arrested 23-year-old O'shaquie Foster, aka O’shanique Foster, of Orange, for aggravated assault March 9 following the issuance of a warrant for his arrest.

According to a new release from OPD, officers were dispatched to the intersection of 10th Street and Rein Avenue in Orange in reference to a person shot on March 8 at 12:08 p.m. Officers responded to the scene and located 24-year-old Centarius Chavis on the ground with a single gunshot wound to his left shoulder. Chavis was awake and responding to officers, according to Captain Robert Enmon. Acadian Ambulance arrived and transported Chavis to a local hospital in Beaumont. Chavis was later released from medical treatment.

Following the incident, Orange police detectives interviewed witnesses and identified Foster as a suspect in the shooting. 

Foster is a professional boxer who has appeared on Showtime Boxing on multiple occasions. His pro boxing record is 10-2 with 7 knockouts. His last bout was in July 2016.
