UPDATE: police identify Mid-County man killed in Beaumont shooting

Police have identified a man found shot to death during what they report was an apparent home robbery on Longfellow Drive in Beaumont on Dec. 11 as Mid-County resident as 20-year-old Joseph Summers. 

Officers responding to a call reporting a gunshot victim found Summers dead and another man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds at a residence on Longfellow. They stated in a news release following the shooting that another individual may have also been present prior to their arrival but fled the scene in a pickup truck. They have are not releasing the names of the second shooting victim or the person they believe may have left the scene of the crime, although both have been identified. Officers say the victims had been involved in a dispute prior to the shooting. 

Police are still investigating.
