Update: Preliminary autopsy results in on Vidor shooting victim

William Bloomer from Facebook post

The Orange County Sheriff's Department says the preliminary autopsy report of New Year's Day 38-year-old shooting victim William Bloomer of Vidor revealed that he died from multiple gunshot wounds. According to a Jan. 5 news release from OCSO, the resident of the home on Sawmill Road in Vidor who was present when Bloomer attempted to enter without permission fired two shots from a .40 caliber handgun, both of which struck Bloomer, mortally wounding him.

The toxicology report will not be available for several more weeks, although OCSO says witnesses reported Bloomer had been drinking at a New Year's Eve party on Sawmill Road in Vidor and was intoxicated. He reportedly left the party without other guests' knowledge, and investigators speculate he mistakenly tried to enter a home on Sawmill without the resident's consent.

The investigation is ongoing and more information could be released later, says OCSO.
