UPDATE: Tanker truck chemical leak shuts down 1-10 East near Taylor's Bayou

UPDATE: All eastbound lanes of I-10 East at Taylor's Bayou reopened around 4:50 p.m.

A Hazmat crew is on the scene. Cleanup is estimated to take an additional 2-3 hours. ---------- An overturned 18-wheeler near Taylor's Bayou, Saturday morning, Feb. 13, on 1-10 East, leaking Isoprene, an extremely flammable liquid used in processing petroleum has resulted in all eastbound lanes of I-10 near the crash scene to be closed. According to Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), motorists should expect I-10 East to be closed for several hours and are encouraged to find alternative routes.

At approximately 10:30 a.m, DPS was notified of a one vehicle crash in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 10 at Taylor's Bayou.  The crash involved a truck tractor semi-trailer.

Preliminary reports show that the tanker portion of the 18-wheeler has been punctured.  The tanker is transporting Isoprene which is a liquid used in processing petroleum.At this time, the driver of the 18-wheeler is conscious, but remains in the cab of the truck tractor.
