UPDATE: Vidor woman dies from injuries sustained in motorcycle accident

Kadie Odom

A Vidor woman clinging to life in a local hospital succumbed to injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. The Texas Department of Public Safety confirmed that 27-year-old Vidor resident Kadie Odom died May 24 from injuries sustained in a motorcycle crash that occurred on May 22.

DPS Trooper Stephanie Davis reports officers with the Vidor Police Department contacted Orange County DPS Troopers at approximately 6:25 p.m. Sunday to assist with a motorcycle crash on Interstate 10 at the FM 105 exit ramp in Orange County. Once on scene, the troopers became the lead investigators.

Investigating officers learned that the driver of a 2014 Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling westbound on Interstate 10 taking the FM 105 exit ramp when, for an unknown reason, he slammed on the brakes and lost control. The motorcycle crashed into the concrete sidewall, rolling over several times before coming to a rest.

The driver, 34-year-old Brannon Lee Wooden, and the passenger, Kadie Odom, both of Vidor, were transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont with severe injuries. Wooden was under care at the hospital for treatment of serious injuries sustained in the crash. Odom was listed in critical condition at St. Elizabeth following the accident and later died from her injuries. Troopers reported that both were wearing helmets at the time of the crash.

The FM 105 exit ramp and two lanes of the access road were closed for more than an hour to clear the accident.

The crash investigation is ongoing.
