The caller stated the victim was not responding. Officers learned a female pedestrian was attempting to cross the road in the dark and was struck by a passing vehicle.

She was transported to St. Elizabeth ER where she was officially pronounced as dead. The Traffic Unit responded to take over the investigation, and the ID unit responded to photograph the scene. The victim was identified as a 41-year-old Beaumont woman Ana Liza Garcia, but investigators have been unable to locate next of kin.

All addresses they have for family are abandoned or no good, according to BPD. Garcia was known to frequent the south end and her family lived on Van Buren at one time.
