UPDATED: Nederland home invaders arrested in Louisiana

Three suspects have been arrested and charged with the Sept. 3 home invasion robbery in Nederland.

The suspects are currently in the custody of the DeSoto Parish Sheriff’s Office in Mansfield, Louisiana on unrelated charges.

The DeSoto Parish Sheriff’s Office contacted Nederland Police on Thursday, Sept. 4, stating they had arrested the three suspects and during the course of the arrest had found personal items belonging to Belinda Volk, the 59-year-old Nederland woman who was bound and assaulted in her home along with her husband Sept. 3.  The items described were some of the items that had been taken during the course of the robbery.

Nederland Police detectives traveled to DeSoto Parish and are currently interviewing the suspects, a press release by Nederland Police states.

Nederland Police obtained arrest warrants issued by Justice of the Peace Marc DeRouen charging each of the three with two counts of Aggravated Robbery with Serious Bodily Injury.  Bond has been set at $1,000,000 on each charge.

The suspects are identified as: 55-year-old Paul Ellis Williams of Little Rock, Ark., 51-year-old Teddy Berry, of Little Rock, Ark., and  52-year-old Milo Alfred English, of Bauxite, Ark

A hold has been placed on all three suspects with the DeSoto Parish Sheriff’s Office pending extradition to Texas.


An elderly Nederland couple is in the hospital following what police are calling a home invasion robbery and assault.

At approximately 1:26 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3, Nederland Police responded to a home invasion robbery at 700 block of 9th St.

Upon arrival officers found, outside of the residence, a 70-year-old white male victim, Philip Volk, who appeared to have been bound and physically assaulted.  Inside the residence officers located the male victim’s 59-year-old wife, Belinda Volk, who had also been bound and assaulted. 

Both victims stated that they were at their home when someone came to the front door.  When Philip Volk answered the door he saw three white males.  One of the males told him they were making a delivery.  The victim stated at that time he asked his wife if she had ordered anything and she stated, “No.”  Philip Volk then stated that the male suspects entered the residence and bound both victims with duct tape.  Both victims were struck several times and sustained injuries. The suspects demanded money from the victims and were told that there was no money in the house, the press release states. The suspects then went through the residence searching for money before leaving. 

Both Philip and Belinda Volk were transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital. Mr. Volk was treated and released from St. Elizabeth Hospital. Mrs. Volk is currently undergoing treatment at the hospital.

The suspects are described as three white males all between 30-40 years of age.  All three were wearing tan colored uniform type shirts with patches on the sleeve stating “Security”. Suspect No. 1 has been described as approximately 5’11” in height, stocky build, reddish blonde facial hair and wearing plastic framed prescription type eye glasses. Suspect No. 2 has been described as approximately 5’11” in height, he resembled Suspect #1 and looked to possibly be a brother to Suspect # 1. He was not wearing eye glasses. Suspect No. 3 appeared to be dressed in similar attire as the other suspects. The suspect vehicle is described as a white Ford or Dodge extended cab pickup.  In the rear of the vehicle there was a large wooden shipping crate labeled “Cayman Brac”
