USAF’s Gateway Brass to perform at Lamar

Lamar University is proudly announcing a special guest appearance from Gateway Brass, the brass ensemble of the United States Air Force’s Band of the West, which will present a free public concert at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 22, in the Music Building on the campus of Lamar University. The ensemble plays a wide variety of brass music, from blues and jazz, to pop tunes and military music.

The concert is being organized by Brian Shook, assistant professor of music and trumpet/brass specialist at Lamar.

“We are thrilled to welcome Gateway Brass to Lamar to give our students and the public an opportunity to support our troops and hear this incredibly talented, professional brass ensemble,” said Shook.

The members of Gateway Brass bring to the Air Force many years of professional experience with symphony orchestras, chamber ensembles, touring shows, and today’s popular artists.
