Victim identified in laundromat shooting

The victim of a shooting at a laundromat in Port Arthur has been identified as 56-year-old male Michael Lynn Thomas.

According to Port Arthur Police Department (PAPD), Thomas was a homeless resident of Port Arthur. At approximately 1:47 am on Oct. 24 dispatch received a call regarding a shooting victim at Fabric Care Washateria on 25th  Street. Upon arrival, officers located Thomas with a gunshot wound to the torso area.

He was later pronounced deceased at a local hospital.

In a statement released Oct. 25, PAPD said, “We are asking for the community’s assistance in helping us solve this brutal and cowardly act of violence. The Criminal Investigation Division at PAPD is currently following active leads in the death of Michael Lynn Thomas.”
