Vidor man dies following two-vehicle accident

An accident in Orange County involving a passenger truck and a motorcycle claimed the life of Vidor man May 30, Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Stephanie Davis reports. 

According to Davis, troopers responded to a report of a two-vehicle accident on FM 1442 at Cajun Way in Orange County at about 11:30 p.m. Investigating troopers determined that a 2014 Dodge pickup truck was traveling southbound on FM 1442 as a 2003 Colt motorcycle was traveling northbound on the same road. The driver of the Dodge pickup truck, identified by DPS as 62-year-old Todd Longron of Orange, attempted to make a left turn onto Cajun Way. Longron failed to yield the right of way while making a left turn and struck the motorcycle. The driver of the motorcycle, 28-year-old John Michael Castillo of Vidor,  was wearing a helmet.

Castillo was transported by medical helicopter to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont with serious injuries.  He was pronounced dead at the hospital at 12:46 a.m. on May 31.

Longron was not injured in the crash.

The crash investigation is ongoing.
