Metal thieves target T&D Solutions
Police say they caught two would-be metal thieves in the act Sunday night, Feb. 3.
According to a BPD press release, officers responded to T&D Solutions on Langham Road about 11:21 p.m. to find two males inside the fenced area of the business. Officers quickly set up a perimeter and apprehended the two males. Upon further investigation, police said the two men entered the business by cutting the fence on the east side of the property.
Police say they later found several coils of copper wiring, which the two men found inside T&D Solutions’ trucks.
Police identified the suspects as Nathaniel Darbonne, 29, and Rayefield Bell, 28, both of Beaumont.
Both men were booked in the Jefferson County Jail and charged with theft of metal.
Weekend robbery at Red Roof Inn
Police say an unknown suspect robbed the Red Roof Inn Saturday night, Feb. 2, 2013.
The weekend robbery began about 11:30 p.m. when a heavy-set African-American male in a Chicago Bulls cap brandished a handgun and demanded money from the clerk.
According to a BPD press release, the clerk complied and the suspect fled south from the hotel, located at 2310 I-10.
No injuries were reported and police are still searching for the suspect.
Suspected car thief nabbed in Louisiana
Police in Iowa, La., were led on a high-speed chase by a suspect whose crime spree began in Beaumont, according to a BPD press release.
The weekend chase began with a robbery in Beaumont near the 3200 block of Euclid Street about 11:30 p.m. Saturday Feb. 2.
Soon after arriving at his Euclid Street home, police say the owner of an Infinity was forced from his vehicle by two unknown suspects. The man sustained minor injuries when the he was struck by a handgun wielded by one of the suspects, who then made off with the Infinity in an unknown direction.
Hours later, police in Louisiana would capture Cedric Pittman, an 18-year-old Lake Charles man, and he was charged with aggravated flight from officers, resisting arrest, criminal possession of stolen property, and criminal damage of property.
According to a BPD press release, Iowa police nabbed Pittman after he allegedly crashed into a house.
No other injuries were reported.
