The Liberty Police Department received multiple calls Nov. 19 from a woman who said she wanted to turn herself in, the department said in a release.

After telling the woman she was not wanted several times, an officer met with her in the parking lot of a business in the 2100 block of Hwy 146 Bypass in Liberty.

Kelli Lunceford, 25, approached the officer and told him she wanted to go to jail, police said. The officer told the woman she had not committed a crime and he could not arrest her for no reason.

Then the woman removed four small plastic bags from her arm band. One bag contained a white crystalline substance, according to the statement. Another larger bag contained straws and partially burned marijuana cigarettes.

The officer arrested the woman for suspected drug possession and the driver of the vehicle on an outstanding warrant. Both were transported to the Liberty County Jail.

The white crystalline substance field tested positive for methamphetamine. The officer said the bag weighed 1.2 g, including packaging.
