Woman fleeing arrest hits Port Arthur officer with car

On Feb. 12, at approximately 1:30 p.m., Bridge City Police contacted Port Arthur Police in an attempt to locate a teal colored 2000 Honda Civic (Texas license plate: JFH0274) that reportedly involved in a theft at the Bridge City Walmart, City of Port Arthur public information officer LaRisa Carpenter said in a release.

The vehicle was registered to an address at the Cedar Ridge Apartments. Port Arthur Officers responded and were able to locate the vehicle and driver in the parking lot of the apartment complex.

The driver is identified as Patrise Young, 37. Young attempted to flee after being detained by officers. During her escape, Young struck a Port Arthur Police officer with her vehicle resulting in the officer receiving serious bodily injury. The officer was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The Honda Civic was last seen northbound on US 69. The front door to the Honda Civic is partially open and unable to be closed due to damage.
