Woman indicted for stabbing ex-boyfriend
A Beaumont woman has been indicted for stabbing her for-mer lover.
Janet M. Mayfield, 17, of Beaumont, was indicted Sept. 12 by a Jefferson County grand jury for aggravated assault after she allegedly used a knife on her now ex-boyfriend in a fit of rage.
According to a probable cause affidavit obtained by The Examiner, on Saturday, Aug. 24, police were called to 1418 Pipkin about 10 p.m. to find the victim with a single stab wound to the chest. The victim told police Mayfield, his girlfriend of eight months, grabbed a knife from the kitchen during an argument and stabbed him.
According to a felony investigative summary obtained by The Examiner, Mayfield “began trashing the house, then took the knife and began swinging” because the victim had ended their love affair.
The case has been assigned to Judge Layne Walker ’s 252nd District Court.
