From Wednesday, October 14, 2015 to Friday, October 16, 2015, the intersection at Junker Road and Arrowhead Drive will be closed to all traffic. The closure will allow the Capital Improvement Project to remove and replace pavement in the intersection.

From Wednesday, October 14, 2015 to Wednesday, October 21, 2015, Forrest Street from North Street to Harrison Street will be closed to all traffic for roadway repairs.

Motorists are asked to be aware of all detour signs and advance warnings, and travel with caution.

Parents of students at Beaumont Independent School District’s Jones-Clark Elementary School were notified after 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14, that a student at the campus brought a weapon to school.

According to Jones-Clark principal Anetra Cheatham, the weapon was a kitchen knife, and no injuries were reported as a result of the incident.

“Despite there not being an immediate threat to students and staff,” Cheatham said, “this incident is taken very seriously.”

A motorcycle traveling through Evadale reportedly lost control Oct. 14 when the driver repeatedly looked back at a patrol car while operating the vehicle, reports the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office. The man on the motorcycle then fled, but JCSO K-9 Baron tracked the suspect down for pursuing deputies.

NASA’s Cassini spacecraft will wrap up its time in the region of Saturn’s large, icy moons with a series of three close encounters with Enceladus starting Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2015. Images are expected to begin arriving one to two days after the flyby, which will provide the first opportunity for a close-up look at the north polar region of Enceladus.

 Monday, Oct. 12, 2015, at approximately 10:13 p.m., the Port Arthur Police Department received a call from a 46-year-old female reporting she had been shot.

According to PAPD press release, initially the female did not know her exact location, but was able to give enough information to lead officers to find her near the 1800 block of W. Highway 73. She was found to be suffering from a gunshot wound to the head.

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is requesting the public’s assistance in identifying and locating the vehicle involved in a fatal auto-pedestrian accident that claimed the life of an Orange resident Friday, Oct. 9.

In a news release, DPS Trooper Stephanie Davis reports 41-year-old Chad Eugene Shields of Orange was struck and killed by an unknown vehicle near mile marker 877 on eastbound Interstate 10 in Orange at about 12:40 a.m. Friday morning.
