The Beaumont Police Department is looking for clues to the identity of a woman who was using a homicide victim’s debit card days before her body was found.

Officers say 72-year-old Robbie Rae Allen was last heard from by family members on Tuesday, Dec. 13. The next day, a black woman wearing a large red jacket, white hat and jeans used Allen’s card at the Fastlane at Major and Phelan in Beaumont, according to surveillance footage from the store.

Celebrating its 13th year of making the eyes of Southeast Texas children sparkle, the Reaud Family Foundation hosted its annual Bicycles and Bibles program this past weekend at Ford Arena.

Giving away more than 14,000 bicycles over the past 13 years, the Reaud Family Foundation began its mission of giving gifts by helping children who might not otherwise have experienced a Merry Christmas.

Before countless friends, family members and fellow law enforcement members, Mitch Woods formally announced Thursday, Dec. 22, his bid for re-election as Jefferson County Sheriff.

The sheriffs of all cities that lie within the county showed up to give their support to his campaign, as did county judge Jeff Branick, commissioner Brent Weaver and former state Senator Carl Parker.

Woods is seeking a fifth term in the 2012 election and said he is proud of the office of deputies he currently supervises.

Update: The woman who drove through the median into oncoming traffic around 9:45 this morning succumbed to her wounds at an area hospital. She was identified as 22-year-old Emily Riu of Beaumont.

The Beaumont Police Department was called out to the downtown bus stop Tuesday, Dec. 20, regarding an altercation landed one man in jail and the other in the hospital.

Officer Cody Guedry said officers responded to a call about a stabbing victim and upon their arrival found a man with multiple wounds. Information gathered shows the victim had gotten into a verbal altercation with another man which then took a physical turn when the second man pulled out a pocket knife.

Rainy weather presented a challenge for drivers Tuesday, Dec. 20. The Beaumont police reported there were over a dozen accidents throughout the day, the majority of which were minor.

One accident involving a motorcycle sent the operator to the hospital, according to police. The driver of the motorcycle was traveling on Eastex near Lucas when he lost control, skid a short distance and ran into the back of a vehicle over the Lucas Drive overpass on Eastex.
