5 p.m. update: Walker's defense called expert witness testimony from a certified public accountant, who testified that he didn't detect evidence to show Walker overbilled the school district for projects performed. Under cross examination from the prosecution, however, the CPA told the court he hadn't comparison priced the materials Walker claimed to have used on questioned projects or reviewed the altered documents submitted into evidence.

BEAUMONT – Effective Jan. 1, 2012, Lamar Institute of Technology will become a tobacco-free campus, in an effort to maintain a healthy and safe environment for its students, staff, faculty and visitors.
The Texas State University System has asked for all its colleges and universities to have a tobacco-free policy in place by June 2012.
Smoking or the use of any tobacco product, including smokeless tobacco, will not be permitted in any facility or on the grounds of any LIT campus. The policy will apply to everyone who comes to the campus, including visitors, vendors, contractors, etc.

Three more witnesses have taken the stand to testify in the federal prosecution of Calvin Walker since the jury returned from a lunch break on the fourth day of testimony in the proceedings. One was an employee for a subcontractor listed by Walker in documents submitted to various entities including a bonding company.
