Police in Orange received a call at approximately 7:21 p.m. Sunday, August 4, regarding a disturbance in which a male was reportedly dragging a female westbound along Highway 105 near the Orangefield High School. Upon arrival at the scene, police discovered a man had been stabbed at the location. The victim refused to cooperate with police and asked that the investigation be dropped, OPD Captain Cliff Hargrave said.

As the clouds masked the sun on a gloomy Saturday morning, Southeast Texans attempted to shine some light on a dark and somber mood by displaying their American flags as a sign of respect and support for Sgt. Anthony Maddox and his family at the Port Arthur soldier’s funeral at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Beaumont.

Maddox, 22, of Port Arthur, was killed Monday, July 22, in a work-related fuel explosion in Afghanistan that left him burned over 97 percent of his body.

An arrest warrant has been issued in relation to the shooting death of Marcus “Big Country” Senegal, who was killed March 30 near the Old School Shack Lounge in Port Arthur. According to Sgt. Scott Gaspard of the Port Arthur Police Department (PAPD), there is an active murder warrant for the suspect, 20-year-old Keenan Novon Anderson of Port Arthur.

Hundreds of Southeast Texans showed up early Friday morning, Aug. 2, to show their support and respect for the family of Spc. Anthony Maddox.

Maddox, 22, of Port Arthur, was killed Monday, July 22, in a work-related fuel explosion in Afghanistan that left him burned over 97 percent of his body.

His body arrived at the Jack Brooks Airport around 9 a.m. and was escorted to the Gabriel Funeral Home in Port Arthur.

Ruby H. Gunner was indicted by a grand jury May 16 on a charge of injury to a child and was booked on a $50,000 bond.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office announced Tuesday, July 30, that 32-year-old David Randall Terrell II of Nederland, has been sentenced for two local bank robberies. Terrell pleaded guilty April 4 to two counts of bank robbery and was sentenced to 77 months in federal prison and also ordered to pay restitution.
