UPDATE: Capt. Crystal Holmes of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office gave the "all clear" at 12:44 p.m., signaling that the courthouse has reopened as no explosive devices were discovered following the bomb threat earlier today. 

Holmes reported that the investigation into the threat would be conducted by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, the ATF and the FBI.

Port Neches Police Chief Paul Lemoine and Nederland Police Chief Darrell Bush are warning area residents to be on the lookout for a suspect burglarizing vehicles in Mid-county, targeting automobiles of people who have recently visited the bank or other financial institution.

According to a Chief Lemoine, area police departments worked several daytime auto burglaries over several days leading up to June 2. Lemoine and Bush both said "the common denominator" in the burglaries is that the victims had all just left their banks after withdrawing money.

An immate at the Jefferson County Jail died in custody, reports Jefferson County Sheriff's Office Captain Crystal Holmes, and an autopsy has been ordered to determine what caused the 70-year-old man's death. 

In a news release, Capt. Holmes indicated that an inmate in the medical infirmary reported that his bunk mate was unresponsive at about 6:30 a.m. June 4. Jail staff immediately began CPR and notified EMS. They continued CPR until EMS arrived and took over. The inmate was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

A silo that has been smoldering for months at German Pellets in Port Arthur collapsed in the early morning hours of June 4, city of Port Arthur spokesperson Risa Carpenter stated in a news release.

On June 1, just before 9 p.m., Beaumont Emergency Services responded to a scene of a vehicle crash, Beaumont Fire Department Captain Jimmy Blanchard reported.

On Friday, June 2, at 10:28 a.m., Beaumont Police responded to a residence in the 1700 block of Leight Street, in reference to receiving a call that a deceased person was inside, Officer Haley Morrow said in a release.

Sheriff’s deputies from the warrant and patrol divisions, assisted by the U.S. Marshals, arrested Shonnon Jenkins, 37, of Dickinson, Sheriff Henry Trochesset said in a release.

On Wednesday, May 31, at about 4:55 p.m., Beaumont Police responded to A-Z Smoke Shop located at 8319 College in reference to a robbery that had just occurred, Officer Haley Morrow reported.

On June 1, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) required the City of Beaumont public water system to issue a Boil Water Notice to inform our customers that due to the presence of contaminants or an interruption in service, water from our system must be boiled prior to consumption.
